Thor Halvorssen Campaigns Tirelessly for Human Rights

Thor Halvorssen, founder of the Human Rights Foundation works hard to stop dictators from violating the human rights of other people. Over the last 10 years, he has worked tirelessly advocating for the rights of others. Today, his latest target is North Korean dictator, Kim Jung Il, and based on his past record, it is easy to see why people consider him a formidable opponent, and someone that people would rather have fighting for them.

Thor has been recognized for his efforts through publicity in a number of major news organizations including Fox News and Buzzfeed. Recently an article in the Weekly Standard even labled Thor Halvorssen a troublemaker for tyrants. Unlike many people in his position, Halvorssen is more than just a passionate activist. He is fulled by his experiences as a young boy growing up in Venezula, and has the drive and work ethic to more than just the face of the campaign.

Halvorssen is not afraid to work hard. Collegues have praised him for his hard work and strong ethics, noting that he does not back down or compromise on principles and that he often gets up early and goes to bed late while working on a campaign. Halvorssen is not afriaid to stand up to the authorities either.

A few years ago, while working in Vietnam and recording an interview with leader of an underground Buddhist organization, he was detained by the authorities. He did not let being being beaten up and bruised intimidate him into giving up his sources or his coworker. The camerman had escaped with the footage, but no matter what, Halvorssen was not willing to give him up. Eventually, Halvorssen was able to convince the authorities to release him by convincing them he was a Buddhist speaker.

One of his latest campaigns involves hackathons, where he and the other members of the HRF smuggle electronics and information in and out of the Democratic Republic of North Korea, and ironic name for such an oppressed country. According to Imdb, Thor Halvorssen is also a professional film maker, documenting his work for the causes he is passionate about.
